Autumn report 2009
We finished the wine harvest for the year 2009 after about 5 weeks in the "Erdinger Prälate" vineyard.
Quantity was a little down on the long-term average, the quality, however, was again excellent. Sugar content of the musts between 88° and 105° Oechsle and acidity typical of well ripened grapes provide the necessary basis for good wines. Sound grapes could be harvested well into November.
An extremely good occurrence of Botrytis allowed us to selectively harvest grapes with a sugar content of 268° Oechsle in the vineyard "Ürziger Würzgarten" and 245° in the vineyard "Erdener Treppchen". We were also able to harvest the german quality level "Beerenauslesen" in Ürzig and Erden. In the vineyard "Erdener Herrenberg" we were again able to harvest an ice wine following those of the years 2007 and 2008.

We presented our wines at the National Portfolio Tasting of Boutique Wine Collection in Philadelphia, PA.
January 2009
On the 30.12.2008 we were again able to harvest two ice wines following the success of 2007. At a temperature of minus 9° Celsius, we were able to harvest the frozen grapes from the vineyards "Erdener Treppchen" and "Erdener Herrenberg".

2007/2008
Rising star of the year
Each year, the wines from this winery get
better and better, and the 2006 vintage was
no exception at the Weingut Dr. Hermann
estate, showing further improvement. In spite
of the difficult weather conditions, the Auslese
wines, in particular, were exceptionally good
this year. If they keep on improving at this
rate, it is only a matter of time until this is one
of the leading producers in the Mosel region.

Raisins from the ERDENER PRÄLAT vineyard
reach 326 degrees Öchsle
The wine harvest of 2007 has been completed. The quantity and quality were more
than satisfactory.
All levels of classification were achieved.
We were able to produce 2 wines with the classification »Beerenauslese«
in the »Erdener Treppchen« vineyard and 2 excellent wines with the classification »Trockenbeerenauslesen« in the »Ürziger Würzgarten« vineyard. The »Erdener
Treppchen Trockenbeerenauslese« reached 280 degrees on the Öchsle scale,
but the highpoint was a »Trockenbeerenauslese« from the »Erdener Prälat«
whose sugar concentration was confirmed by the Institute Heidger in Kesten
as achieving a sensational 326 degrees on the Öchsle scale.
It remains only to be seen if the »Eiswein« harvest in »Erdener Treppchen«
and »Erdener Herrenberg« will be successful.
